On Saturday, September 5, 2026, the Flying Emotions air show will take place over Lake Wolfgang. As historic warbirds, modern helicopters, and some of Europe's best pilots meet in the sky, the Salzkammergut landscape becomes the stage for an extraordinary flying experience.

What is Flying Emotions?

Flying Emotions is the name of the air show taking place as part of the Living Legends of Aviation Europe at scalaria – also known in previous years as the scalaria air challenge. It combines classic flight demonstrations with extraordinary aircraft, spectacular formation flights, and the "Flying Opera."

What can visitors expect on-site?

Starting at 12:00 PM, the public viewing area on the lake promenade in St. Wolfgang invites you to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The freely accessible visitor area offers a varied supporting program with commentary, exhibitions, and food trucks. Musical highlights will be provided by the band Hela Gunks and the Red Bull DJ Car. Organizer: St. Wolfgang Tourism, with the kind support of Red Bull.

Public viewing area opens

The freely accessible visitor area on the lake promenade in St. Wolfgang. Featuring commentary, exhibitions, and food trucks. Information booths from the Austrian Armed Forces / Austrian Air Force and the flight police provide insights into modern aviation, operational technology, and training and career opportunities.

"Flying Emotions" Air Show – The Flying Bulls & Special Guests

Approximately two hours of flight program over Lake Wolfgang, split into two parts.

Part 1 – Flying Emotions: Classic air show featuring historic aircraft from The Flying Bulls, modern helicopters, extraordinary flying machines, as well as formation and aerobatic displays.

Part 2 – The Flying Opera: Staged flight formations with live music and special guests – performed by The Flying Bulls, Red Bull Blanix, and award winner Dario Costa. Further details on the special guests will follow shortly.

As part of the Flying Opera, Dario Costa, a Living Legends "Bob Hoover Freedom of Flight Award Winner," will join Mirko Flaim, Chief Pilot Rotor at The Flying Bulls, to present a special flight act developed exclusively for Lake Wolfgang.

Red Bull Skydive Team & Peter Salzmann

As part of Flying Emotions: spectacular parachute jumps by the Red Bull Skydive Team featuring Marco Fürst and Marco Waltenspiel. Wingsuit world record holder Peter Salzmann will also perform a jump specially designed for Lake Wolfgang.

Highlight
The "Flying Opera"

Live music and aerial artistry combine to create a production unique in Europe – developed specifically for Lake Wolfgang. Performed by The Flying Bulls, Red Bull Blanix, and award winner Dario Costa.

In the event of heavy rain or poor visibility, the flight schedule may shift within the 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM window, or in extreme cases, to Sunday, September 6th.

Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman will host the Living Legends of Aviation Europe 2026 – returning to Lake Wolfgang for the second time since 2022.

The Award Gala will take place on September 5th at the DO-X teatro, hosted by actress Annabelle Mandeng. Dress code: Black Tie.
