Sikorsky S-38: Crossing the Atlantic by Flying Boat
In 2010, five aviation legends dared to do the unthinkable: they crossed the Atlantic in a vintage Sikorsky S-38—without modern avionics, relying solely on visual navigation. It is an extraordinary story of courage, trust, and pioneering spirit that, years later, also led them to Lake Wolfgang.
The legends are back at Lake Wolfgang
On September 5, 2026, Lake Wolfgang will, for the fifth time, become the European stage for the "Oscars of Aviation." Featuring a Flying Bulls airshow over the water, an awards gala in the DO-X Teatro with host Morgan Freeman – and, for the first time, free admission to the air display for the entire region. Such days only happen here. And only every two years.
