living legends of aviation award gala at the scalaria at "Wolfgangsee"
Jerry Lips founded the Living Legends of Aviation organization in 2003 to celebrate aviation's second century and honor outstanding achievements by pilots, industry representatives, astronauts and record holders.
While the annual gala is held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles in the spring, the European edition of the award show was once again held at the scalaria after 2018 and 2019.
The approximately 450 guests were welcomed by scalaria host Peter Gastberger.
Annabelle Mandeng hosted the evening in her usual charming manner. She can currently be seen as a German actress in the Netflix hit series Vikings: Vallhalla.
Personalities and Stars at Red Carpet
Splendid sunshine, the glittering lake, seaplanes and the surrounding mountains of the Salzkammergut - the backdrop could not have been more beautiful when the big names of the aerospace industry at Red Carpet gathered at the scalaria on at Saturday together with actors, captains of industry and celebrities from Austria and abroad. Hollywood star Morgan Freeman attracted particular attention as he chatted relaxedly with journalists and guests. As a passionate pilot himself, he is part of the Living Legends of Aviation Hall of Fame and thus supports the Kiddie Hawk Foundation, which gets children interested in flying at a young age. Together with his partner Linda Keena, he emphasized his connection to Austria. In conversation, they told us that they consider the area around "Wolfgangsee" to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
"After our arrival in Salzburg and an impressive sightseeing flight with the DC-6 of the Flying Bulls, we went at Friday by seaplane to the "Wolfgangsee". Today is shaping up perfectly and we are excited to be part of the gala at the scalaria," Morgen Freeman tells us about the first two days in the Salzkammergut and at the scalaria.

This year's honorees included Oliver Daemon as the youngest astronaut in history and Daniel Wiegand of Lilium Air Mobility,
for its innovative 36-engine, electric-powered aircraft.
Bin Chen of Diamond Aircraft was named Industry Leader of the Year, with CEO Frank Zhang accepting the award.
Robert Dewar, the designer of the Airbus A220, Sir Stephen Hillier, former General Air Chief Marshal Royal Air Force and current Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority CAA, Shane Lundgreen of Metolius Aviation Capital and Hamish Harding of Action Group were also inducted into the Hall of Fame and may in future call themselves Living Legends of Aviation. Sarah Rutherford, by far the youngest honoree , received a standing ovation.
After the 19-year-old circumnavigated the globe solo in her single-engine Shark Aero UL aircraft between August 18, 2021 and January 20, 2022, she was presented with the 'Aviation Inspiration Award'. With this adventure, the Belgian-British pilot not only secured two entries in the Guinness Book of Records, she also inspires young people all over the world to take up aviation with her uncomplicated and courageous manner.

Another highlight of the event was the Flying Opera 'Living Legends of Aviation' air show by 'The Flying Bulls'.
From Hangar 8 at Salzburg Airport, the fleet consisting of the B-25, Cobra, Corsair, BO 105, the two Alpha jets and the Lightning set off in the evening sun to nearby "Wolfgangsee" and impressively showed why they are among the best of the best in the air. A spectacle for the whole region.
In order to have a good view of the air show, a public viewing area with live music broadcast was set up at Kalvarienberg above St. Wolfgang.
