summer freshness in the salzkammergut
"Salzkammergut"
The weekend is approaching, the weather forecast is glorious and the signs point to a few days off in the mountains. So what to do? One goes to the summer resort. And preferably to the Salzkammergut - the region between Salzburg, it is one of the most beautiful in the world.
The triad of high peaks, deep blue lakes and rolling green hills captivates visitors from near and far. But it is the people, their down-to-earth hospitality and the excellent cuisine between game and freshly caught fish that keeps you coming back.
Basecamp at Lake
If you want to treat yourself to something special, book a room at the scalaria. With a lake view, of course. The hotel is a myth and there is hardly anyone who has not heard of the great shows that take place here year after year. Living Legends of Aviation, the Air Challenge and Aquaria are just a few of a long series of highlights that the event hotel directly at "Wolfgangsee" hosts for its international clients throughout the year. But in the summer, the sunset wing opens its doors and the summer visitors and vacationers take over.
An extravagant base camp, where you can still indulge in the summer resort directly at water and where you can recharge your batteries in a relaxed way. Morning swims in the lake, top cuisine from Neo chef Klaus Kobald and water skiing included. "We are delighted when we can inspire our guests at the scalaria so much that they feel homesick for here as soon as they leave," laughs Peter Gastberger. From here, you can wonderfully explore the region and set off on climbing tours, bike rounds, via ferrata adventures and hikes to the surrounding peaks.
voluntarily in distress
Seenot is the name of the climbing route through the nearby "Falkensteinwand". This is pure Mediterranean feeling - and in the heart of the Salzkammergut. Even the journey is unusual, as you first have to take a water cab or a regular boat across to the other side of the lake. From the landing stage, you first climb up the mountain, from where you abseil through the wall almost all the way down to the water. There the actual climbing begins. You should allow four hours for the 250 meters in altitude with a maximum difficulty of level 7. In return, you'll be rewarded with a view of the glittering lake that you won't soon forget.
biking or hiking or running - the agony of choice
Not quite as spectacular as the climbing tour, but just as impressive are the many panoramic bike tours through the region. Over to the Fuschlsee or to the Mondsee, to Bad Ischl, Hallstatt or to the Schwarzensee, the Salzkammergut can be explored wonderfully from the saddle. Hikers and mountain runners, on the other hand, have the Schafberg, the local mountain of St. Wolfgang, on their personal bucket list. At the top, a 6-lake view and a fresh apple strudel await the athletes.
climbing
Pure action awaits in the Postalm gorge, high above the roaring Rußbach stream. Seven rope bridges, the steep, slightly overhanging ascent of difficulty level F through the Gamsleckenwand and several exposed sections ensure that even the toughest via ferrata climbers long for the approaching breather at the top at green Postalm plateau. If you avoid the difficult parts, then you can also walk the route with a maximum difficulty of C.
Back at the scalaria, a jump into the lake and a cool drink await you after every outdoor adventure at .
