It was 1998 when Peter Gastberger gave wings to his vision for Lake Wolfgang, bringing his idea of a habitable experience to life with scalaria. Pure, exclusive, and unmistakable. Even then, the Circus Circus theater restaurant emerged as a unique venue, perfectly suited for staging brands and unforgettable corporate events. This was due in no small part to the specially developed lifting and floating stage, which represented a groundbreaking concept just before the turn of the millennium.
It was only a matter of time before major stars caught wind of this unique location. Since 2019, the Living Legends of Aviation Europe Awards, the 'Oscars of Aviation,' have been presented at scalaria, bringing a touch of Hollywood to the lake thanks to special personalities like John Travolta and Morgan Freeman. Additionally, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, astronauts, pilots, and record holders from around the world gather here to celebrate the fascinating world of aviation for an entire weekend.

While Scalaria is renowned as a world-famous stage by the lake, groundbreaking measures in sustainability and climate protection have always been, and continue to be, implemented behind the scenes throughout its existence. For instance, the newly installed lake heat exchange system extracts heat and cold from the lake water, while the in-house photovoltaic power system generates the necessary energy for this heat pump. This results in complete CO2 neutrality. Furthermore, an innovative water piping system runs through all rooms, enabling a closed cooling circuit for heating and cooling without causing any pollution.
